The research is industry directed from a collaboration of organisations seeking to address commercial opportunities evolving from global healthcare transformation. The companies include existing health care providers and those with transferable skills from other sectors such as mobile devices, analytics, advanced materials, IT and digital media.
The NI Connected Health Innovation Center (CHIC) is funded by Invest NI to support business led collaborative research. The funding model is called a competence centre and CHIC was the first approved NI centre and the only centre focused on healthcare. Other competence centres in Northern Ireland exist in advanced engineering, sustainable energy and agri-foods.
Embracing collaborative research, the Connected Health Innovation Centre (CHIC) seeks to develop companies operating inNorthern Ireland. This will be achieved through targeted research and development which maximises skills and identifies new ideas, products and insights.
